Program
West Virginia University participates in the "Reciprocal Faculty Borrowing Program" which provides the capability for faculty members of participating institutions to have library borrowing privileges and on-site access to the collections of some of the most important research libraries in North America.

Purpose
The purpose of the Program is to promote and facilitate scholarly research and communication among members of the faculties of participating institutions. The Reciprocal Faculty Borrowing Program is sponsored by West Virginia University along with other members of the Association of Research Libraries (ARL) that are online to OCLC, the Online Computer Library Center in Dublin, Ohio.

Eligibility
Full and Part-time Faculty in good standing with the WVU Libraries with picture I.D. and a library card are eligible to apply for a RFBP card. This card will be valid for one year from date of issue and is renewable.

Procedures
Faculty members may request a RFBP card at the Circulation Desks of the Evansdale, Health Sciences, Law or Wise Libraries. The faculty members will be given two forms to sign that explain their responsibilities and acknowledge that they (and not WVU) are responsible for materials borrowed, fines, etc. One copy will be kept on file at the respective Circulation desk and the other copy given to the faculty member. A card will be issued along with a brochure of participating institutions.

Reciprocal Faculty Borrower Responsibilities
Present identification when requesting a Reciprocal Faculty Borrowing Program card from WVU libraries and show that card, along with other required identification, when borrowing materials from another library.

Observe the regulations of the lending library.

Return materials, in person or by mail, within the loan period prescribed by the lending library.

Return materials immediately, in person or by express mail, if recalled by the lending library.

The Faculty Borrower, and not WVU, is responsible for any and all fines and other charges incurred. Please note that this is a program of privileges. At its discretion, an institution may suspend the privileges of its own faculty members or the faculty members of a participating institution.
